Proposing a Special Issue
Advice to help you prepare your Special Issue proposal for submission.
Special Issues (SIs) at the Journal of 21st Century Pathology are thematic collections of peer-reviewed articles centered around a subject of defined and timely interest within the scope of the journal. Each Special Issue is conceived, developed, and led by recognized experts in the field who serve as Guest Editors.
Unlike a regular journal issue—which comprises a broad range of topics submitted independently—a Special Issue is a targeted scholarly collection. It is not equivalent to a standard journal issue, but rather a curated grouping of manuscripts unified by a common theme, purposefully organized to foster dialogue and accelerate knowledge in emerging areas such as AI-integrated pathology, spatial diagnostics, and biomedical visualization.
Guest Editors guide the scope, invite relevant contributors, manage peer review processes (as needed), and help ensure the scholarly quality and relevance of each submission within the thematic focus.
